Three things independent India should never forget:
- Struggle
- Partition
- Constitution
We struggled for independence in every possible way. From violence to non-violence. From protest to diplomacy. From economics to science, we fought at every front. One thing we should remember, despite differences, everyone fought for our independence. There were differences between some great freedom fighters, but despite differences, they all came together and contributed.
Despite being of the same culture, same language, and same history, unfortunately, we had a partition in the name of religion. Numbers floating around about how many people died. The fact remains that we killed our people, and we raped our women. This will remain the biggest blot in our history.
We drafted the constitution when everyone thought we couldn't sustain ourselves as a nation. The Constitution of India provided us with Universal Adult Franchise. We created a liberal, secular, futuristic document that united us.
